Considerations:
*** I don't recommend hiking this in the summer or when temps will be over 90 degrees at any point on the hike. Keep in mind that some people, if not experienced with hiking in heat, will not be able to tolerate temperatures even lower than 90 degrees.
If you are not fit to hike into the Grand Canyon, do not attempt this hike until you are fit enough.
Fred and I recommend anyone undertaking this hike should train and be able to walk at least 15 miles continuously and hike 4,000 feet of elevation gain. We hiked this 23 years ago with 100-degree temps at Phantom ranch which slowed us down, but we had experience hiking in hot weather.
